Rosebank Art and Craft Market

Experience the doorway to Africa, from the sunny sandy beaches of Cape Town to the dusky dunes of Cairo. Nestled right outside one of Johannesburg's most loved shopping malls- Rosebank, the market is open everyday from Monday to Sunday.

Starting from the tradesman selling different masks from all over Africa to beautiful handmade dresses to fit a special occasion out, there is definitely something in this market that will bring out the African in you. These pieces are handmade by the craftsmen themselves and some are collected along their journeys around Africa. There's priceless items are perfect to start or add to your existing collections.

This market does not have any food stalls or music as was experience by the other markets we visited, and you could get through this market within under one hour with ease. However, it is a must see for tourists especially.

The Neighbourgoods Market

As citizens of this great city we are always looking to take advantage of the sunny weather, this market allows us to do just that.

The Neighbourgoods Market is situated in Braamfontein and trading hours are from 9am-3pm on a Saturday only. The market was established as part of the inner city rejuvenation movement. The market consists of a fresh food emporium as well as various alcoholic & non-alcoholic bars. The stalls are on the first floor of a 15-story building which provides shade while you grab a bite to eat or a refreshing drink. The seating area is limited thus, if you would like to sit and socialize at a table, ensure that you arrive early.

The upstairs area stalls has anything from hand-crafted jewellery and leather items to an array of clothing pieces.Various artists grace the upper sunny floor and display their unique musical talents while keeping you entertained.

This market is one of Johannesburg's most young and vibrant places to be at on a Saturday afternoon which is mural by the famed artist, Eduardo Villa.

Market on Main

Your Sundays will never be just ordinary again.

The Market on Main is situated in the heart of Johannesburg from 10am- 3pm every Sunday. This market was established to attract people from all parts of Jozi that wouldn't otherwise find themselves in the inner city. The market is very vibrant and buzzing with life, and is located inside a previous warehouse. When entering the market, you are immediately greeted by an array of food smells that will kick start your appetite in no time.

There is an art gallery for those who has a eye for art, with local and well known art pieces on display. The vintage clothing store and Antique store are situated upstairs where priceless collectors items can be found aswell as treasured garments. The Micro Brewery is a great escape for the avid beer enthusiast where your taste buds can be educated.

Once you have satisfied your cravings and picked out some memorabilia, you can dance your way upstairs to the Rooftop Salsa where calories are no match. There is a reasonable entrance fee for the amount of fun ahead. The bar is in close proximity to the dance floor where you can enjoy various dance moves from Kizomba to Cuban Salsa.

This is definitely one of Johannesburgs most vibrant markets and a must do when in Maboneng.
